Despite Padma Shri and National Awards, Manoj Bajpayee Keeps His Feet On The Ground

Manoj Bajpayee is one of those actors who have managed to establish a respectable place for themselves solely based on their hard-work and dedication to their craft.

The National Award winning artist, who’s survived for as long as he has – in an industry which is not always fair to ‘outsiders’, hasn’t let his success get to his head.

A recipient of Padma Shri award – one of the country’s highest honors, Manoj still remembers how hard he had to fight in order to find work for himself in the glamour-obsessed world of Bollywood.

In a telephonic interview with IANS, on the occasion of his 50th birthday, Manoj said:

“I am not Padma Shri Manoj Bajpayee. I am Manoj Bajpayee, an outsider who saw dreams and stayed on the fringes of Mumbai and worked day and night to get work. For my contribution to Hindi cinema, I was felicitated with Padma Shri. I am happy to get such an honour but it does not mean I will stick around it only.”

He further added:

“It is important to move on from the laurels of the past. I can’t let success go to my head. These awards inspire me to do more hard work each day. There’s a lot more to do. I am still exploring.”
