After finishing the shoot for her upcoming mega-budget period drama, ‘Bharat’ opposite Salman Khan, actress Katrina Kaif is now in talks to feature as a ‘lead’ in yet another major project.
The ‘Namaste London’ actress is now being roped-in to star in her career’s first biopic, essaying the role of legendary Indian track and field athlete, P.T. Usha.
According to reports, the film is to be helmed by Revathy S Varma, who has already approach Kaif with the finalized version of the script.
The Padma Shree Awardee was one of the most prominent Indian athletes back in the 80’s, earning herself the title of the “queen of Indian track and field”, winning several gold and silver medals in international championships.
Although it is yet to be seen, whether Kaif can show off the chops required to pull off a character as rugged and raw as Usha’s and whether she’d be able to de-glamorize herself to ‘fit for the role.’
After the ‘disappointment’ that was Priyanka Chopra’s version of ‘Mary Kom’, we won’t keep our expectations high at this point.
