Battling PCOS And Struggling With Her Weight: Looking At Sara Ali Khan’s Inspiring Journey

Sara Ali Khan may have catapulted to become one of the most promising new stars in Bollywood, but her ride to success hasn’t been an easy one.

Despite hailing from a ‘filmy’ background and aspiring to do something in the ‘performing arts’ since the beginning, Sara struggled to find her way, due to her prolonged battle with being overweight and her diagnosis with PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Disorder) – which was partially responsible for her being on the heavier side.

The shy and studious kid who was completing her studies at Columbia when she was diagnosed with the illness, which basically causes multiple cysts to be formed in the ovaries due to a hormonal dis-balance, found inspiration through her actress mother, Amrita Singh and started her journey of loosing oodles of weight while still studying.

A turning point in her life came when her mother failed to recognize her while receiving her at the airport. This led Sara to pledge firm commitment to get her body back in shape and concentrate on completing her graduation on time.

Following a more disciplined lifestyle, which included letting go off all the junk food and substituting it with a protein-based diet, Sarah managed to shed all those extra pounds coming down from an alarming 96 Kgs – with an aim to not be a ‘size zero figure’, but become a healthier, fitter version of herself.

Sara presently trains with the same trainers who have helped keeping the likes of Kareena Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Malaika Arora in shape – Namrata Purohit. Her rigorous sessions of Pilates and aerobics continue to help her live life on the healthier side.

If her girl-next-door bubbly charm wasn’t enough, here’s another reason to fall in love with Sara as your ‘favorite star kid’ on the block.
