Kangana Ranaut’s 7 Biggest Controversies: Times The Actress Created Headlines In Public

There’s no doubt in our minds that Kangana Ranaut is one of the most talented actresses in Bollywood today.

The three-time National Award winner has proven her metal time and again, with critically acclaimed performances in movies like ‘Queen’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’ and ‘Manikarnika’ – to name a few.

Also ranked among the highest paid female stars in Indian cinema, Kangana maintains her position as the ‘Queen of Bollywood.’

But despite all her professional achievements, her personal life has been just as much a subject of discussion, with several instances of her headline-generating interviews.

Known for her bold approach and no-hold-barred answers, Kangana has often picked controversies where you’d least expect them. Be it her past relationships or her many public feuds with co-workers, Kangana manages to stir storms with her statements.

Let us take a look at some of her most controversial affairs in the recent past:

1) Her feud with Hrithik Roshan

The mother of all controversies related to Kangana Ranaut, featured her alleging Hrithik of ‘using’ her in an emotionally draining relationship. According to Ranaut, the affair took place while Hrithik was still very much married to the mother of his 2 kids, Suzzane Khan. Hrithik, on the other hand, has persistently denied being in any form of a relationship with her.

2) Her battle against ‘Nepotism’ and Karan Johar

Kangana gave birth to a subject that now haunts an age-old trend in Bollywood, which allowed the industry to flourish like a good old family business – Nepotism. During her notorious stint on Koffee with Karan, Kangana labelled Karan Johar as the ‘flag-bearer of Nepotism’ and the one running a ‘movie mafia’, which not only resulted into a nation-wide debate about the very subject of family-prejudices in the industry, but also concluded with a heated exchange of words between the actress and the producer.

Their disagreements continue till this very day.

3) Her discrepancy with writer Apoorv Asarani

During the course of her ambitious Hansal Mehta flick, ‘Simran’ – Kangana was accused of stealing credit from the film’s former writer Apoorv Asarani, who also called her out for hijacking the project from him. The film’s screenplay was partly written by Kangana, who stepped-in after not liking some of the elements that were penned-down by Asarani initially. Going by his most recent interviews on the actress, Apoorv continues to carry that grudge against her.

4) Allegations by director Krish

Soon after the release of her highly anticipated period drama, ‘Manikarnika’, the movie’s “co-director” Krish accused Kangana of stealing credit and lying about having shot a significant portion of the film herself. Krish’s claims were later dismissed by the movie’s producer Kamal Jain, who came out in the actress’ support, confirming that she did indeed shoot the remainder of the mega-budget flick, after Krish left it midway to work on another project.

5) Her allegations on Aditya Pancholi

In her controversial interview with Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adaalat, Kangana Ranaut detailed her past ordeal with former actor, Aditya Pancholi. Kangana spoke about the abusive nature of her affair with the 54 year old which took place during the very beginning of her career, while she was still a minor. Aditya, on the other hand, denied all the allegations and filed a defamation case against her. Although, Aditya’s wife did state that the affair lasted for nearly 4 years, but denied any form of exploitation done by her husband.

6) Her accusations against ‘Queen’ director Vikas Behl

During the wave of several #MeToo stories in Bollywood, which were kick-started by Tanushree Dutta’s initial claims of sexual misbehavior against Nana Patekar, Kangana too shared her own story of ‘inappropriate behavior’ by ‘Queen’ director, Vikas Behl. Vikas was accused by a number of actresses of sexual assault in the past, following which Kangana came out claiming how the director would often stuff his face on her her for an uncomfortable period of time, during social meetings. Vikas, yet again, denied it all.

7) Waging war against Bollywood biggies

After the release of her highly ambitious project – Manikarnika, Kangana was particularly upset with the way a vast majority of Bollywood had neglected the release of the flick, refusing to speak about it on social media platforms. Calling it a ‘racket’, Kangana called out the likes of Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar – to name a few, for ganging-up against her, and deliberately refusing to support her projects in public. It wasn’t long before Alia responded and offered to personally apologize to the actress, for hurting her sentiments.
