After Padmaavat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali To Now Make A Movie On ‘Gangubai Kothewali’

After the mega success of his controversial magnum opus – ‘Padmaavat’, Sanjay Leela Bhansali has already decided upon his next big-screen venture – and it is, yet again, going to be a historical saga, of some sort.

The Filmfare winning director is now gearing to depict the life of the infamous female gangster – Gangubai Kothewali also referred to as the Queen of Kamathipura, who was notorious for running multiple brothels across Mumbai.

According to reports, the project has already been given the tentative title – ‘Heera Mandi’, and reprising the role of the “Madam of Kamathipura” would be Priyanka Chopra, if everything goes per the initial plans.

Gangubai – was notorious during the the time after India’s independence, when she also got to meet with PM Jawaharlal Nehru, to discuss the atrocities and difficulties faced by the female sex works in Mumbai’s red light areas.

An interesting project – but also quite unruly for the grand canvas that SLB mostly depicts his stories in.

If not PC, who else do you could be roped in to portray a role like that?
