UP: Man Hangs Himself After Wife Refuses To Fast for Karva Chauth

As the nation celebrated Karva Chauth with utmost fervor this Saturday, tragedy struck in a family in Uttar Pradesh as the occasion brought along an uncalled-for death.

A newly married man reportedly got so upset due to his wife’s refusal to keep a fast for him, that he ended his life by hanging himself by a dupatta.

The incident took place at Maghera village in Mathura, Uttara Pradesh where a young man couldn’t wrap his mind around the fact that his wife was unable to keep a fast for their first ‘Karva Chauth’ after marriage, as she was not feeling well. At around 10 AM on Saturday morning, he took his life by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room.

The family members broke the door to get inside the room where he was found hanging and did take him to a nearby city hospital in Mathura, but he was already gone by that time and was declared ‘brought dead.’

According to the police, the man worked as a tailor and had gotten married only a few months ago. He was angered by his wife’s reply on the question of the Karva Chauth fast, which is when he went to his room and hung himself.

No investigation is being done on the matter, as according to the police, no formal complaint has been filed by anyone.
