Here is what Deepika and Ranveer Said About Tanushree Dutta’s Sexual Assault Allegations Against Nana Patekar

Tanushree Dutta’s sexual assault allegations against Nana Patekar has opened the doors for several Bollywood celebs to join the #MeToo movement and speak out in support of her. Although, only time will tell whether other voices would find the courage to speak out against their past perpetrators and bring more such cases to the public light, Tanushree has certainly opened that door for others.

After a bunch of Bollywood celebs have spoken on the issue and about Tanushree’s case in particular, actors Ranvir Singh and Deepika Padukone also expressed how they felt about it.

In a recent media summit by Hindustan Times, the actors were asked about their opinions on Dutta’s allegations. Without divulging much into the specific case, both Ranveer and Deepika condemned cases of sexual assault in general and insisted that one must listen to sexual abuse survivors.

Here is what Ranveer said:

“I see it beyond gender emphasizing that “harassment, whether it is in the workplace or on the street, is wrong. Right now something has happened, and if it has happened, it takes a lot of courage to speak about it. Therefore we must listen to the person”.

And this is what Deepika had to say on the issue:

“For me, the Me Too movement is not about gender. It’s about the victory of right over wrong. So, anyone who faces any sort of discrimination or any sort of abuse, I think we as a people must support that person. It’s not about a woman or a man or female vs male, let’s not get confused in that conversation”.

Good to see people breaking out of their shell to focus on the problem. Here’s to hoping this unearths those predators who have been hiding under the carpet for several years.D
