The impact of Indian movie music looms over way beyond the desi continent. There are tunes that have lasted not only the test of time but also the test of geographical boundaries.
Classics by Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Muhammad Rafi – helmed by the likes of S.D Burman and R.D Burman – to name a few, continue to remain on our playlists after all these years.
This was yet-again showcased in a recent welcome-ceremony for president Ram Nath Kovind on his official visit to Czech Republic.
A very-well rehearsed India-Czech Sinfonietta Orchestra took the spotlight to perform a number of Hindi-movie classics at a ‘community reception’ hosted in the country’s capital, Prague.
The president was obviously floored as the Orchestra sang heartwarming renditions of classics like ‘Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan’ and ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas.’
