The impact of Sridevi’s untimely death earlier this year can still be felt everywhere.
The celebrated actress who died at the age of 54, while attending a family function in Dubai with husband Boney Kapoor, was at the brink of her successful second-innings in Bollywood when the tragic incident took place.
After the multiple tributes that have flown-in her direction, the celebrated diva will now be honored by the government of Switzerland, who have decided to erect her statue in Interlaken, to honor her legacy.
An inside-source was quoted telling the following to Indian Express in relation to the planned tribute:
“The Swiss government has highlighted its India connection by installing Yash Chopra’s statue in Interlaken. Now, considering Sridevi’s role in promoting tourism here, there is a proposal to honour the actor by having her statue here.”
Sridevi is considered to be one of the first Bollywood stars who popularized the ‘song-and-dance’ routine in the ‘Haseen wadiyaan’ of the country. Her 1989-released Yash Chopra-helmed classic, ‘Chandni’ – had many memorable shots with the beautiful backdrop of the country’s natural heritages.
The tribute by the Swiss government not only does seem fitting, but also a great way to add-on to her lasting legacy.
