Nawazuddin Responds to Rajkumar Hirani: “I Never Thought He Will Become Such a Great Director”

A few weeks ago filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani had looked back at the struggling days of actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, when he was living off of minuscule roles in movies – and hadn’t quite established a name for himself. One of those roles was in Hirani’s ‘Munna Bhai’ MBBS, as an ‘unnamed’ pickpocket.

Hirani had reflected over the past, asserting how he never thought Nawaz would go on to become such a great actor.

Responding to the Hirani’s statement, the ‘Manto’ star also reflected on the little time he shared on sets of the flick.

This is what he had to say:

“I read the statement which he made about me in the newspaper. I did a very small role in ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’ which was directed by Rajkumar Hirani. He used to be a shy person when I worked with him.”

He further added:

“I also feel surprised how he became such a renowned director. I never expected that he would become such a great filmmaker not only India, but all over the world.”

Wonder if there’s some hidden shade in the statement or just pure, benevolent appreciation…

What do you think?
