Lata Mangeshkar Angry Over Atif Aslam Covering Her Classic, ‘Chalte Chalte’

Lata Mangeshkar has always maintained the fact that she’s not too fond of people covering old Hindi classics as she firmly believes that music masterpieces of such magnitude should be left as is.

That doesn’t however stop people from remixing and reproducing old-tunes, with a flavor of something modern and perhaps ‘more acceptable’ to the present generation of music-lovers.

So when Atif Aslam decided to remake Mangeshkar’s much-loved classic tune – ‘Chalte Chalte’ from the movie Pakeezah – it was inevitable for him to be struck with the wrath of it all.

The Pakistani singer gave his own flavor to the legend’s iconic tune for Jackky Bhagnani’s upcoming romantic drama, ‘Mitron’ and it certainly has not gone down well with the songstress.

Responding to the news of the remake, Lata Mangeshkar expressed that it saddens her to hear about old classics being “re-touched” in such manner as she also stated that she doesn’t even feel the need to give it a listen.

‘Nobody has the right to tamper with the creativity of these great composers and lyricists,’ she said.

For those of you who haven’t heard the re-make yet, here it is:
