Kerala has had to deal with one of its worst natural disasters in the nearly 100 years of the state. Countless people have lost their homes, several have lost their loved-ones and most are still battling with the aftermath of the devastating tragedy.
As the beautiful state, often regarded as ‘God’s Own Country’ for its serene and beautiful locations, fights to bring lives back on track, the town of Munnar – in the Western Ghats mountain range, spotted something extraordinary in the midst of the receding water-bodies.
A giant-hand like rock which surfaced in the Muthirapuzha River caught the attention of the locals. who quickly pointed out its resemblance with a human-hand, with naturally carved-out five fingers.
People quickly started calling it ‘God’s Hand’ – which played a role in safeguarding the fate of the popular tourist destination. While many pointed out, that the rock is pre-existing and seemed to have taken the shape of a human had due to strong flow of water.
Either way, it has certainly given Munnar another destination which is likely to attract visitors and become a symbol of this unforgettable, life-changing natural travesty.
