Aishwarya Rai was the recipient of the ‘Meryl Streep Award of Excellence’ for her work in Indian Films and Television, at an Indian award ceremony in Washington DC.
The actress who’s been working in the movie-biz for more than 2 decades was acknowledged for her body of work by being handed-over the inaugural trophy at the first ‘Women in Indian Film and Television Awards.’
The former Miss World attended the ceremony with her adorable daughter Aaradhya and mother Brinda Rai, who were also spotted posing for the shutterbugs both before and after the ceremony.
Although the fact that Aishwarya, out of all the other Indian talents out there, was chosen to be honored with a name that has been synonymous to on-screen greatness and the true-blue art of acting, it was a moment for the superstar to shine, so we’ll leave it at that. (even though it did raise many eyebrows on Twitter)
Hubby Abhishek, who couldn’t be there personally, due to the ongoing promotions of his upcoming flick, ‘Manmarziyaan’ – chose to write a small, but heartfelt note for “his Mrs.” while expressing how the moment makes him feel proud.
“And the Mrs. is awarded the Meryl Streep award for excellence at WIFT. The little one gives her a congratulatory hug, and I look on (to the photo) a very proud husband,” Jr. Bachchan wrote.
