This blanket seller gave-away his entire stock of blankets to Kerala flood victims!

Not many mainstream media outlets seem to be covering it but Kerala is struck with the devastating impact of floods which seem to have taken a toll on the livelihoods of its residents.

The heavy rainfalls have resulted into a dangerous rise in the water levels of the state causing not only some serious damage to the infrastructure but also leaving people stuck in helpless situations.

Nearly 1 lakh people have been left homeless in what is being termed one of the biggest nature disasters to strike the state.

As various folks and organizations step-in to help those in need, one man’s contribution providing help to folks has struck a chord with everyone.

Vishnu, who had traveled all the way from Madhyapradesh to sell his stock of blankets, was so affected after witnessing the situation in the state that he donated his entire set of blankets to the victims.

The blanket seller, who originally hails from Maharashtra, was carrying nearly 50 blankets to sell, but instead decided to act after seeing the state of emergency in the place.

Vishnu then went ahead and donated his entire stock to a food relief camp in Kannur.

Speaking to Onmanorama, Vishnu expressed his love for the place and what drove him to donate something he earns his very livelihood from:

“KANNUR IS MY SECOND HOME. KERALA HAS GIVEN ME EVERYTHING – A PLACE TO STAY, A LIVELIHOOD TO SUPPORT MY FAMILY AND RAISE MY CHILDREN… AND REALLY GOOD CLIMATE. I AM SEEING KERALA IN SUCH AGONY FOR THE FIRST TIME. I CANNOT AFFORD TO WATCH PEOPLE SUFFERING AND I GAVE THEM WHAT I HAVE.”

As hard as it is to control natural disasters of such magnitude, people like Vishnu certainly provide a moment of solace and comfort to those in need. Let us hope his contribution inspires more people to join-in.

Once again…faith in humanity restored.
