“I broke down and couldn’t stop crying”: Alia Bhatt on Sridevi’s Death

It wasn’t just fans and family who were affected by the untimely passing of Sridevi earlier this year, many of her industry colleagues, particularly budding stars who aspired to be like her and looked up to her – were too painfully moved by her death.

The celebrated actress and on-screen enchantress, Sri’s career spanned nearly 5 decades and her many on-screen characters throughout this years have been etched into the memories of those who grew up watching her rise to prominence.

‘Raazi’ actress Alia Bhatt one was one them.

In a recent interview with Times Now, Alia responded to the question of how Sri’s untimely death affected her as a young actress by revealing how she was so devastated upon hearing the news that she couldn’t even stop crying for several hours.



Here is what Alia had to say:

“Her passing away was devastating for me, like it was for everyone. I was in a restaurant when I heard the news. After that I just couldn’t eat. I broke down and couldn’t stop crying. What an impact she had on people! She was always so warm and lovely. kind of turnout on the streets during her last rites… she went like a goddess!.”

Alia who’s delivered some pretty strong performances in the recent past herself, is one of the most promising leading ladies of Hindi Cinema. The star was also handed over the ‘Best Filmfare Actress’ award by Sridevi herself, back in the year 2017 – for her performance in ‘Udta Punjab’.
