Atal Bihari Vajpayee served as the 10th Prime Minister of India from 1998 to 2004 and was the first PM outside of the Indian National Congress, to have served a full five-year term.

Serving as a member of the Indian parliament for over four decades, Vajpayee co-formed Bhartiya Janta Party in the year 1980 after working as one of the founding members for Bhartiya Jana Sangh.

Although the seasoned leader took retirement from politics in the mid 2000’s due to rising health concerns, his legacy was only strengthened by a new generation of admirers who learned about his striking personality, leadership-skills and impact in Indian politics.

Vajpayee will certainly be remembered as one of the most loved and respected Prime Ministers of India.
