Long have we been urging our celebs to speak out against social and political atrocities and wrong-doings, insisting them to make use of their wide reach and voices for something substantial.

However, the recent trend of shaming and boycotting the same celebs for stating their personal opinions about public matters – certainly speaks a different tune.
The latest in line to receive such backlash was Anaarkali of Aaraa‘s outspoken and highly-opinionated actress, Swara Bhaskara – whose recent jabs at some socio-political affairs have not gone down well with a number of people on internet, who have now assertively been trolling and shaming her on social media platforms.
So when the time came for her latest movie, ‘Veere Di Wedding’ – which also stars Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor and Sikha Talsania, to hit the silver screen, a number of people expressed their resentment over it even before they actually saw it.
While, the movie is anyway receiving a mixed review from audiences who have actually seen it – there are also a number of online trolls who’re basically copy-pasting the same “piece of personal critique” that is sort of exposing their own agenda.

On a number of tweets being posted online, people have sharing the exact same story of taking their grandmothers to see ‘Veere Di Wedding’ and having to walk out of the theater in disgust during its “masturbating scene” which apparently features Bhaskar.

The bit-by-bit similarities in those tweets could not go unnoticed by Twitterati who called out the point of even watching a movie like that with their grandmothers in the first place.

Even Swara couldn’t help but notice that so many people had apparently gone to the theater with their respective grandmothers and had the exact same experience while watching it –  hence she quickly called out the “trend” and questioned “what IT cell” was making them do run the same dialogue in bulk.

Here is what she said:

What do you think is pushing people to go so up-in-arms against artists that they are driven to star campaigns against them?
