It was only last year, when the heartbreaking story of former actress Geeta Kapoor made everyone bawl their eyes.
The yesteryear actress, who once starred alongside Meena Kumari and Raaj Kumar in the movie ‘Pakeezah’, was abandoned by her own kids at Gurgaon’s SRV hospital.
Reports further claimed that her son, Raja used to repeatedly beat her and abuse her at their home and later admitted her to the hospital – where he eventually left her without notice, after the hospital bills started mounting.
A few names from Bollywood did come forward to help – as heartbreaking footage and pictures of the actress, crying and pleading for help made headlines, she was eventually shifted to an old-age home after producers Ashoke Pandit and Ramesh Taurani helped her clear the hospital bills.
Almost exactly a year since the news broke, the actress has now sadly passed away at the old-age home in Mumbai and breathed her last on Saturday.

The news has been confirmed by Ashoke Pandit himself, who while speaking to Indian Express, said:
“Geeta Ji finally passed away, we tried our level best to care for her, but she finally gave up. She kept waiting for her children for last one full year, but no one came to meet her. Only last Saturday we hadarranged a grand breakfast to cheer her up, she was okay too, but she was not happy from inside, as she wanted to see her children one last time. She had a natural death as she was not keeping well because of her age, she passed away today, around 9.00 AM.”
Pandit has decided to keep her body at the hospital for two days – in hopes that her children pay her a last visit and bid her goodbye, while also performing her last rites. But if it doesn’t happen during this period, he’s willing to do it himself.
Her body will be kept at Cooper Hospital Vileparle for two days hoping her Children to come and atleast do the last rites Otherwise We wl do our best to bid her a dignified good bye..
