After Censor Board clearance 'Padmavati' will finally release, but with a new name!

Alright. So the Padmavati controversy may soon be coming to an end, with a settlement.

The Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed magnum-opus, which couldn’t make its way out of massive national protests – alleging a false and derogatory portrayal of the Rajput Queen, which ended up delaying its theatrical release, may finally see the light of the day.

Yes! Unlike what we had started to believe a few weeks ago, we’d finally be getting to see the epic saga on the big-screen.

The film has finally been given a “clean chit” (whatever that means) by CBFC, after the certification body “re-reviewed” the flick with some government-appointed historians. (Yep! All that fuss for the release of a damn movie!)

However, the so-called “clean-chit” is not unconditional. There’s a catch. Multiple, in fact.

The movie will have to undergo a few significant changes – which not only include changing the name of the titular character, but also the name of the movie itself.

‘Padmavati’ (the movie) will now be ‘Padmavat’ (LOL. That’s right!)

The special panel consisted of Arvind Singh from Udaipur, Dr.Chandramani Singh & Prof K.K. Singh of Jaipur University.

An additional number of 26 cuts have been suggested, including a few changes in the song ‘Ghoomar’ – giving the film a U/A certificate.

Alas! ‘Padmavat(i)’ may now soon get a new official date of release and we can’t wait to see it!
