National award winning filmmaker Kalpana Lajmi has been battling cancer for the past couple of months.
The acclaimed director, known for socially-conscious movies like – ‘Daman’, ‘Rudali’ and ‘Ek Pal’ has been severely sick for nearly over a year, since her diagnosis with Kidney cancer.
Amidst her turmoil and health crisis, the filmmaker is being financially assisted on the soaring medical costs, by several television and movie fraternity people – who have been donating nearly 2.5 lakhs a month, to pay off the medical bills.
Aamir Khan, Rohit Shetty and several other people from the Indian Films and Television Directors Association have generously been lending a helping hand to ensure an effective treatment to Kalpana is not barred by cost-related constraints.
According to reports, Lajmi’s condition has deteriorated to such an extent that she has been bed-ridden for nearly 6 months and has been going through regular kidney dialysis.
The physical and mental turmoils surrounding cancer are many a times made harder by its surging costs of treatment – which often become un-affordable by people. Its great to see people are reaching out to Lajmi in her time of need.
