Though Karan laughed it off during the show, he did come up with a rebuttal later on in an interview, which further sparked a controversy involving heated exchange of words between Johar and Ranaut. The debate dragged for several months, as numerous celebs joined-in to express their opinions on what Kangana had to say about industry-bias.
Now, actress Priyanka Chopra, who co-starred with Ranaut in their 2008 critically-acclaimed drama, ‘Fashion’, has also joined in the debate with her own take on the issue. Chopra cited her own example of being kicked out from a movie once, but also maintained that ‘star-kids’ face their own kind of struggles as they have a name to live-up to.

In an interview with Mid-Day, the Quantico actress was asked about making it in the industry without any Godfather and also what she felt about Nepotism, to which the actress said, “Every star has their individual journey. In mine, I have faced a lot. I have been kicked out of films because someone else was recommended to the producer. I cried and got over it.”
She did however add a perspective, partly siding with the ‘other-side’, as she explained, “There is nothing wrong in being born into a family that has a legacy. Outsiders don’t have a foot-in-the-door access. Star kids have insurmountable pressure of living up to the family name… Eventually, those who are meant to be success stories become that, despite all hindrances.”
Previously, actors like Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aamir Khan, Swara Bhaskara among dozens of others have expressed their opinions about Kangana’s ‘Nepotism’ remark, but most have chosen to be politically-correct with their opinions.
Chopra is currently geared for her big-screen Hollywood debut, Baywatch co-starring Dwayne Johnson and Zac Effron.
