The movie being created with a record-breaking budget is to be directed by seasoned ad guru V A Shrikumar Menon and will star the biggest names of Bollywood.

Quite like the recent Blockbuster, ‘Baahubali’ (another mega-budget epic saga), Mahabharata will be created and released in two separate parts and the first part will be expected to go under-production in September 2018, with a target of releasing it in theaters by 2020. The part two will hit the theaters in a few months’ span.

Mahabharata, has been a highly-ambitious project in Bollywood for several years, and many filmmakers have attempted to take it up several times but have always fallen short when it came to the demanding budget and the risks associated with it.

But with the success of epics like Bahubali, Mahabharata, a ‘dream-project’ for many years, might finally become a reality.
